Ownership

Owner

Sarah Wurst

My name is Sarah Wurst, and in 2021, I moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming, with my four kids, leaving behind Kansas City to start a new chapter. It was a big change, but one that has brought many exciting opportunities.

I graduated from Coastal Carolina University, where I earned degrees in Sport Management and Business Management. After college, I was fortunate to land my first job with Sporting Kansas City, an MLS team, where I gained valuable experience in the sports industry and developed my passion for both sports and business.

In 2023, I joined the Rock Springs Grizzlies (now Miners) as the Director of Business Operations at the team’s inception. It’s been an incredible experience watching the team grow, and when the opportunity arose to take on full ownership, my family and I decided to take the leap. I’m incredibly excited about what the future holds and proud to be part of a community that continues to support and grow the Miners.

General
Manager

John Gilchrist

Contact

Hockey has been John Gilchrist's lifelong passion, as a player, and for the better part of the last two decades, as a coach. John steps into the General Manager role for the Rock Springs Miners with a hockey résumé built from the ground up in this community. For roughly 12 years, he's been a fixture in Rock Springs youth hockey, coaching at every age group and later serving a term as Vice President of the Rock Springs Amateur Hockey Association (RSAHA) — experience that gave him a full view of the sport, from teaching kids to skate to running league-level operations. He also spent a season behind the bench with Team Wyoming U18 AA, adding high-level bench experience to a background rooted in player development.

John's connection to the Miners goes back to the organization's earliest days. He, his wife Jessi, and their three kids, Oliver, Ian, and Bennett, have been a billet family for the program since its inception, and all three boys are deeply rooted in the Rock Springs hockey community themselves. John served as an assistant coach last season, and throughout his time with the organization has been a trusted advisor to both the coaching staff and ownership, someone the Miners have leaned on well before his title made it official.

Outside the rink, John spends his time coaching his own kids across their various sports and relentlessly working on his golf game whenever he can find the time.

Now stepping into the GM chair, John brings a rare combination: someone who has seen the program from the inside as a billet family, a coach, and a confidant to leadership — and who understands what it takes to build a roster and a culture that gives players a real path to the next level.

Beyond the rink, Chad is a devoted father to his two-and-a-half-year-old son, Henry, who is his greatest source of motivation.

The Rock Springs Miners are incredibly excited to welcome Chad to the organization. His passion for player development, relentless work ethic, and vision for the future make him a tremendous addition to our leadership team, and we can't wait to see the impact he'll have on our program.
